We will contact you personally before considering you for membership.

2. Sensitive Personal Information

Some information supplied to Qismatly may constitute special category personal data under UK data protection law, particularly information concerning religious beliefs.

We process such information only where we have an appropriate lawful basis and, where required, your explicit consent.

You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis of processing, although this may mean Qismatly can no longer provide the service effectively.

3. Why We Use Your Information

We may use personal information to:

- review membership applications;

- contact applicants;

- verify applicants;

- understand members personally;

- decide whether to accept an application;

4. Legal Bases

Depending on the information and purpose, Qismatly may process personal information because:

- it is necessary to provide, or prepare to provide, our membership service;

- it is necessary for Qismatly's legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service;

- we have a legal obligation;

- you have provided consent; or

- another lawful basis applies.

Where special category information is processed, we will also rely on an appropriate additional condition under applicable data protection law.

5. Photographs

Photographs supplied to Qismatly are not displayed publicly on the Qismatly website.

They are used solely in connection with:

- verifying applicants;

- preparing confidential member information; and

- private introductions.

Photographs are shared only at the appropriate point in the introduction process.

Recipients are prohibited from forwarding, saving, screenshotting, reproducing or otherwise redistributing them.

6. Sharing Information With Potential Introductions

Information is shared progressively.

An initial biography may exclude a photograph and personally identifying information.

Further information may be released only where the relevant stage of the Qismatly introduction process has been reached.

Personally identifying details and contact information may be disclosed where both individuals have chosen to proceed.

7. Family Involvement

Where appropriate and consistent with the member's wishes, Qismatly may speak with family members as part of understanding or facilitating an introduction.

Members may also show an introduction profile or photograph to an appropriate parent or close family member.

The information must remain confidential and must not be forwarded, photographed, screenshotted or copied.

8. Service Providers

We may use trusted third-party providers to help operate Qismatly, such as:

- website and database hosting providers;

- email and communications providers;

- payment providers;

- video communication services; and

- technology and security providers.

These providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services to us, and subject to appropriate data-protection arrangements.

Payments may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider. Qismatly does not need to store your complete payment-card details itself.

9. International Members and Data

Some members or introductions may be located outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, Qismatly will take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate protections required by applicable data-protection law are used.

10. How Long We Keep Information

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for:

- providing the Qismatly service;

- administering membership;

- managing introductions;

- maintaining appropriate records;

- resolving disputes;

- protecting members;

- meeting legal, tax, payment or regulatory requirements; and

- establishing or defending legal claims.

Biography links themselves are normally available for approximately three days after being sent.

Expiry of a biography link does not necessarily mean the underlying member information is immediately deleted from Qismatly's internal records.

11. Security

Qismatly takes reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information.

However, no online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Members also have an important role in maintaining security by complying with the confidentiality requirements contained within this policy.

12. Your Data Rights

Subject to applicable law, individuals may have rights relating to their personal information, including rights to:

- access information;

- correct inaccurate information;

- request deletion;

- restrict certain processing;

- object to certain processing;

- request portability in relevant circumstances; and

- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

Requests should be sent to contact@qismatly.com.

You may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

13. Law Enforcement

Personal information may be disclosed where Qismatly is lawfully required or permitted to do so, including in connection with a valid law enforcement request, court order, safeguarding concern or serious threat of harm.

Further information is contained within our Law Enforcement Requests policy.
